Kent CT wins Yankee Magazine Best Place for Leaf Peeping!

Kent CT wins Yankee Magazine Leaf Peeper awardKent CT wins Yankee Magazine Best Place for Leaf Peeping! Kent beat out Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts for the best place for leaf peeping in New England. No surprise to me or to many who live in the area. Lower Litchfield County is full of eye candy, and the small town of Kent, CT is no exception!

According to Yankee Magazine, it is not just about the trees, it is an overall viewpoint. I already knew there was much to see and do in Kent, the center of Kent is full of wonderful little stores, antique shops, great restaurants. The Appalachian Trail runs through Kent, making it a great place to hike. The Housatonic River cuts through Kent, CT, perfect for fishing, kayaking, canoeing. Route 7 wanders through Kent, CT providing some of the best eye candy going.

Kent, Connecticut, living and playing in beautiful Kent, CT.

Kent BullsI love to go to Kent, CT. Take a drive up Route 7 North from New Milford, it will take you right into the heart of Kent, CT. Nestled in the scenic foothills of the Berkshires, Kent, CT is a place you shouldn't miss! But first, don't forget to stop and check out the covered bridge over the Housatonic River at Bulls Bridge. Stop and take a bit of a stroll through the paths above the Housatonic River or just sit and enjoy the view! And if you are hungry, try one of my favorite restaurants in the area, Bulls Bridge Inn. (My favorite meal is to ask for their crab cake appetizers as an entree, and hit their salad bar, the best I have ever had!)

Bulls Bridge, Kent, CTDowntown Kent, CT is wonderful. Filled with boutique shops, you will find that special one-of-a-kind gift, or something special for yourself to remember your trip by. One of my favorite shops is Foreign Cargo The Gallery Upstairs. I am always fascinated by what I find there, and so is anyone who is the recipient of a gift purchased there! There are many more shops in Kent, this is just my favorite. If you go there, I am sure you will have a hard time choosing your favorite place!

The famous Kent Film Festival happens right here, April 22-April 25, 2010, as well as the Litchfield Jazz Festival. The Kent Art Association is alive and well, walking through town you can't help but notice how important art is to this small community.
