Lake Waramaug Luxury Homes in Connecticut

Lake WaramaugLake Waramaug Luxury Homes in Connecticut. Lake Waramaug has been a popular getaway since the 1800's when people began to build homes along the lake. Lake Waramaug is the second largest natural lake in Connecticut. Despite its popularity it has retained its natural beauty. As you wind around the lake you feel as if you are transported to another time. Many of the homes have been renovated, yet they retain their original charm and beauty.

The towns of Washington, Kent and Warren share the lake. The quaint Village of New Preston is an important part of Lake Waramaug. (New Preston is actually part of Washington, Connecticut.) A wonderful area for those looking for that special quintessential Connecticut luxury second home or full time residence, Lake Waramaug is about a 90 minute drive to Manhattan, and 30 minutes from the Windgale train station.

Are you a golfer? The Lake Waramaug Country Club sits right above the lake, and has dramatic views. The Hopkins Inn and winery are located on the lake, well known to locals and tourists both for the food, the ambiance, the wine and the Inn. The Boulders Inn affords wonderful cuisine with a lake view and beautiful rooms. If you enjoy hiking, a walk up to the Pinnacle will afford amazing views of the lake also. Bikers love to ride around the lake and soak in the scenery.

If you are interested in purchasing a home around Lake Waramaug there are currently 19 homes for sale, many with direct waterfront and docks, others with sweeping views of the lake, or seasonal views of the lake. They range in price from a very affordable $349,000 to $6,000,000 for an estate on 21 acres. I would be happy to arrange a private showing of any of these amazing homes that might interest you. Give me a call at 203.460.1775, or send me an email, andrea@andreaswiedler.com. If you would prefer to search for these luxury homes yourself on the Internet, click here to request an account to perform comprehensive searches of the MLS, or visit my website for more area information.

Lake Waramaug in New Preston, a (not so) Wordless Wednesday

Lake Waramaug is the second largest natural lake in Connecticut. A step back in time, the lake retains a beautiful feel to it. Many of the homes appear as they were when New Preston and Lake Waramaug became a popular vacation spot. There is the Lake Waramaug State Park, the Pinnacle which affords a spectacular view, Lake Waramaug Country Club, Hopkins Inn and Hopkins Vineyard, The Boulders, for spectacular dining with lake views and a wonderful place to stay. Many of the homes on the lake are for rent during the summer season.

Lake Waramaug takes its name from Chief Waramaug of the Wyantenoc Tribe. They had hunting grounds and lived primarily in New Milford near what is now called Lovers Leap. They summered at the area around Lake Waramaug. Even they knew back then what a wonderful vacation spot it is!

New Preston CT in photos

The Village of New Preston is beautiful, a small section of Washington, Connecticut located moments from Lake Waramaug, the second largest natural lake which has been a popular vacation spot since the 1800's.  I will post pictures of Lake Waramaug separately.

Yesterday I went to New Preston to take a few pictures. These are just a few that I took of the Village and the Aspectuck River as it winds through the village. I also couldn't resist the photo of the New Preston Congregational Church steeple as it rises through the trees. What a view!

If you are visiting the area, be sure to stop in New Preston. A step back in time, with antique shops and a local deli, it is a wonderful place to bring your camera and take some of your own pictures! Follow the signs from Route 202  to Route 45, the village center is right there.
