There are so many barns left in the Greater New Milford area, some in use as this one is, others stand as a testament to the hard working farmers of the past. I love to see when people bring the barns to life for all of us to enjoy! Such a wonderful New England scene! Grab your camera, take a drive around the countryside and enjoy the sights.

Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest. - Mark Twain

Andrea - When I was 10 we lived in an old CT farmhouse in Gales Ferry. It was a 2 story w/basement & root cellar stone house with the backyard set up against a formidable bluff. The soil was rich for growing vegetables and we had spent spring, summer and fall growing and harvesting on a 3 acre plot. Your barn photo broght back fine memories.
I come from farm country and am still get barn calendars from my sis. I have fond memories of playing in the hayloft and less fond memories of getting the hay up there!
Claude, glad I brought back some great memories! Aren't farms and barns great things?
Richard, LOL, I know exactly what you mean. I don't think people understand how hard it all is. But anyway, they provide some good photo opps!
Andrea...
Thanks so much for the note. That was very sweet and much appreciated :)
BTW, Sunflowers are BB's favorite flower. He buys them for me and tells me their my favorite :)
TLW...ROAR!
TLW, glad you appreciated the note! And that is pretty funny about the sunflowers, LOL. I won't say a word!
Great Photo and I love the touch the sunflowers give it..
Andrea - Great photo - very colorful. That part of ther country is one of my favorites! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Andrea ~ I love barns! That's a great picture. And we'd better grab our cameras and start snapping photos of barns while we still can - too many are endangered.
Liz
Hi Andrea...
Is that American flag tacked on or painted on that barn? Either way it looks pretty cool!
Andrea, our part of the country has a lot of history, and barns can in many ways provide us with a door to that history.
Andrea - There are NEVER enough "barn" photos if you ask me. Liz has a point, they are somewhat endangered and becoming a less frequent encounter while driving around the countryside. Snap away, and share frequently... as we hope that their preservation will endure for many year to come.
Hannah, glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Lisa, I am a bit partial to this part of the country myself. Thank you!
Liz, there are barn preservation funds available for old barns, but I think it just isn't enough!
Richard, it is painted on, done by a Sargent of the National Guard for Chick when he was having all his tests done in preparation for the big surgery. It was a surprise, and he loves it!
George, we do have a lot of history tied into these old barns. This one has some amazing history, it was somewhere else, stood for so long, then in the 50's it was purchased for a buck and rebuilt where it is now. It used to stand where the now defunct Century Brass buildings are in New Milford. True recycling!
Judy, you are right about that, never enough barn photos. I know you, like me, are very partial to them. Thank you!
I absolutely love this picture. The sunflowers were the perfect complement to the barn and the blue sky.
That one is seriously hard to beat - awesome barn, flag, pic!
Andrea, great barn shot! Love the way the guy painted the American flag on it! Sunflowers are beautiful. Also loved your composition of the picture - perfect! We have a client that makes furniture from barn board, so the old barns can live on forever! Have a great night! See ya soon!
Sunflowers are the Kansas state flower! Love the photo.
Andrea, Very cool picture. That picture could have been taken in Kansas; especially with the sunflowers. That is the Kansas state flower.
I just read Patricia's comment. I guess you can tell we are both from Kansas.
Dan, why thank you! I like it myelf! :D
Hi Al & Peggy, thank you! And furniture from barn board? Great thing! I will see you soon too!
Pat, ah, a Kansas person huh? LOL. Thank you!
Marchel, gmta, that is, you and Pat! Kansas grows good stuff then. :D Thank you.
Andrea, never get tired of looking at farms. I love old barns, especially when people turn them into living space!
Andrea,
Great post about Greater New Milford area. Is the flag painted on the barn?
Love those old barns and with an American Flag, all the better!
your friend in Charlottesville Virginia!
New England it truly one of the most beautiful area's to visit! As a kid we usually took a month off from school and my most rememorable trips was traveling through the New England states. The changing of the leaves and finding the old covered bridges still stick in my mind. Plus I have to say, New England reminded me of the most Pariotic area!
Thanks for sharing!
Cheron
Tony & Darcy, I too love barns at living spaces, thank you!
Monique, painted. And thank you!
Hi Charles, they are very nice with an American flag on them!
Cheron, there is a covered bridge not too far from here. I took photos in the spring, need to get back there ASAP and do a new shot, then wait for the leaves to change and then.... winter photos!
What a great photo. It reminds me of a puzzle or a post card and so patriotic!
Hello Yvette & Dennis, why thank you! I like this one too, but then again I am partial to this barn. I have spent many an hour in here taking care of cows and milking them!
Andrea,
I love Americana, and this is a classic. An old barn in a beautiful setting. Thanks. :)
Steve
Steve, why thank you for coming by and looking at my photo. I am very partial to this old barn as I said above!
