The Bridgewater Country Fair, Bridgewater CT, a great ag fair!

The Bridgewater Country Fair, Bridgewater Connecticut is a great agricultural fair. Although we have had 2 days of rain, mud up to their eyeballs over there, the fair was great fun. I went for a few hours today and took pictures. I wanted to see the oxen pull as I know some of the contestants! The Texas Longhorns and the Dutch Belted are owned by Richard Smith Sr, and are really gentle boys. But watching them work is amazing. The Dutch Belted were first, they are only 2 years old. I remember them when they were babies without horns! They didn't place, but it was good experience for them. The first group started pulling 1600 pounds and ended up pulling 6000 pounds. WOW!

Cows, chickens, rabbits, pig races, an elephant, sheep, so many animals to see. Little kids in a pedal tractor pull, the Hot Dog Pig Races, rides, food, just great fun!

The Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department deserves a big round of applause for all the extra work they had to do to keep the fair running with all the mud and rain. All the volunteers are a great group and made this fair another great one!

I hope you will enjoy this slide show I put together of the fair.

Andrea - The fair looked like fun despite all the mud. Great photos as usual. I think the pig race would have been my favorite event. Looks like on little piggie got confused and headed in the wrong direction. :D

Judy, that little piggie got loose and didn't want to go back inside, LOL. I loved it! As you know, the oxen are my favorite, LOL, can you tell? I was sorry I had to leave, I wanted to get shots of the longhorns pulling. When they go in the barn they know enough to tip their heads sideways in order to get in. Amazing if you ask me.

Thanks for stopping by!

Andrea, this reminds me of the State Fair of Texas with the Agricultural Barns. Great slide show!! Love those Longhorns....

This sounds like our State Fair...and if it's anything like ours, I know it's a wonderful time to be had by one and all.

Andrea - Oh how I know what it's like to visit those rain soaked muddy fairs.  My granddaughter's Mom and stepdad work the fair circuit with their fried dough trailer and lemonade stand.  Fair season for them kicks into high gear next weekend which is wonderful for me as I get my granddaughter every weekend they are working.  I try to get to as many fairs they work as I can so Brooke can see her mom and stepdad and of course go on some rides, eat lots of food and play some games.

Who doesn't love a county fair!  I still enjoy going to them, even without kids.  And I love your show.

Andrea...

Thanks for the slide show ... I can smell the cows from here! Did I ever mention that I had two brothers and their families that live in Connecticut?

Hi Andrea: I love the pig races!   What is that thing / animal / something in the parking area shot - I could not make it out?

:)

Andrea thank you for the pictures of the pig racers, I had never seen that before :) :)

The only day that we got rain was Friday night, the rest of the weekend we have not had a drop here in Middletown.

Andrea  - Country fairs are great minus the mud.  The Dutchess County Fair is this week and I am hoping for good weather.

Gary, somehow I knew that you would really like those... LOL. Thank you!

Craig, I love the ag fairs. There are a few more around here that are big, and way to much fun!

Donna, my feet were so muddy! They were giving away free passes to those that got stuck in the mud. I had the Wrangler, so no chance on that. It was like going on a ride, LOL! What a wonderful grandmother you are to take her to the fairs. She will always remember that you know.

Margaret, that was the first time I had been by myself, and to be honest, it was great. I got to go where I wanted to, with my camera of course. I enjoyed myself. I was sorry I had to leave before the longhorns pulled, that was the bad news.

Richard, you are welcome. LOL, I love the smell of cows. No, you never mentioned that about your brothers families! Where in CT?

Al & Peggy, who is luckier than I am? It was a fun week for sure. I am not sure what's next, but I am looking forward to it!

Matt, that was very funny. The woman running it has a great sense of humor. My pig was Lindsay Loham, the orange pig in the second race who came in first! And that is a little stuffed animal some child lost in the parking lot. I could see the kid was probably driving the parents nuts, and the lot had been shut down due to the MUD.

George, they were great! We got soaked here, I mean soaked. Thank you!

Jennifer, that is a wonderful fair also, I hope you get better weather. I felt bad as the fair is a fund raiser for the Bridgewater Fire Department, but they all did an amazing job of keeping things going!

Andrea great pictures!  I have to say the ones of the pig race are my favorite.  Some huge oxen though too.  Alot of the pictures reminded me of the Dutchess County Fair in Rhinebeck, NY.    They have about the same amount of animals and animal rides.  Oh...and the elephant pics were good too!  We have one of those up the street too!

Oh, my!  What amazing photos you've got here!  I love the way you started and then added all the people and animals!  And there was one rooster who took my breath away!

Posted by Patricia Kennedy (Evers & Company Realtors) over 2 years ago

Debra, I am sure the fairs are similar. An elephant too? LOL, I can hardly wait to get there.

Pat, thank you! But how about those oxen, LOL. Yes, the roosters were great, all the animals were fantastic actually!

Andrea: Pig races, that is a new one. Glad you like the photo of the Florida Bobcat. No the kitty does not come with the place, but I have a stray kitty looking for a home who would be a lot kinder to the funiture:)

Thanks for your kind words.

Hi Susan, you are welcome, I loved your picture! Aren't those pig races fun?

And never ever ask me if I want a cat, LOL, I am over run with kitties, through no fault of my own. LOL.

Thank you for stopping by!

Ooooooh, I liked your slide show. Those Longhorns and the cows laying on the straw remind me of my many times at the Houston Rodeo and Livestock Show.
