Day 4, 2010 Challenges, making lemonade out of lemons...

Day 4, 2010 Challenges... making lemonade out of lemons...
2010 challenges
Yesterday brought an unexpected snow storm, I had to get to the hospital, pick up mom and baby and take them home. Her car just couldn't cut it, and her Jeep is not ready to drive. OK, not bad except I am up 1000 feet, only way to town is STRAIGHT DOWN! My little Wrangler made it, putting an infant seat in the 2 door Wrangler is always a challenge, ok, temps down in the teens, we made it. Whew... But the much needed trip to the store had to be put off till today, which changes everything. Getting home was a real challenge, shot most of my day for sure. No emails, no nothing.

Today? Started off the day with a bang. Was sitting all comfy cozy in my recliner and pinched the laptop cord in the chair when getting up. Bye bye cord... I almost started a fire! I found one online and ordered it, expedited shipping, but that still will not be fast enough. Between the store trips today I have to try and find a cord somewhere. Uh oh.... I may be MIA for a few days without a cord. Unless I can pry my old laptop away from hubby who uses it to watch Netflix. You have to use an external monitor to use it, a truly unique laptop! I have a deal going on which needs attention, another potential buyer to nail down, and scads of other things to do which do require this particular laptop with all my files in it. I have 1 hour of battery life left, LOL. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I find a cord today in my travels.

So, my lesson here? That flexibility has to be on the top of my list in 2010. And creative ways around those challenges. Funny that within 4 days my daily plans for 2010 and my business were shot right out into outer space!

Stay warm, we are trying to! I am off to make lemonade out of these lemons in my way.

That's life! Things can change in an instant. At least you have a brand new grandbaby to spoil. LEMONADE. ;-)

Hope you find a cord today.

Now if you had an Iphone you could still be conjected while you wait for your new cord to arrive!  I am LOVING my new IPhone, by the way.  How did I ever live without it before?  Have fun Grandma.  Nothing better than tiny baby snuggles!

Andrea, I can imagine how the last 48 hours for you, lol, it is not funny, you make it sound so funny though.  It is true, it doesn't matter how we plan out, things can go haywire, out of our control, we just have to be creative and make the best out of it.  I have confidence in you, you will get it done.  Hope you will have a great week ahead of you!

The key to any success is finding solutions to the problems thrown in your way.

Couldn't you just get some duct tape and splice that cord together? I see it done all the time in the course of my inspections. ;)

There will always be little curve balls in life, you just have to learn how to hit them. I recently had to replace my cord as well, but no threat of fire thankfully.

Andrea, Staples has a good supply of cords on hand, maybe you should give them a call.

Good luck with those hills plus car seat -- not an easy job!  And how wonderful to have a new grandbaby -- great lemonade indeed!  (BTW, if you are into rum, you could always make lemons into hot toddies at this season) :)

Hi Andrea ~ The "day 4" caught my eye as I read to figure out what I had missed.  Such exciting news. I am thrilled for you - despite the few lemons.  Whole lotta lemonade getting made at your house.

Good morning all. I pried the old laptop away from hubby and put it on the kitchen table. I wish you could see this, no... not really, LOL. It is better than nothing! I am scanning it now, there were 700 plus spyware "things" on the computer when I used Superantispyware, hubby has been window shopping heavily I would say. Now I am scanning for viruses.

Of course this computer does not get on the MLS, I have a new customer that called yesterday, I need to send some listings and we are  going out on Sunday. The cord has been shipped, and I should be back in business soon enough.

My plan today is to visit people with computers and just say.. "oh, I need to check one thing on the computer, do you mind?" That should work.. as long as my MLS will allow access, it is pretty temperamental, IE needs to be updated, but not too updated, LOL.

And Jim, I actually thought about the duct tape, then I quickly dismissed it as I had visions of FIRE dancing in my head. Then last nite hubby suggested it.

At least I am on ActiveRain, and can read emails. I have no access to my pictures, so I will keep you all in suspense waiting for my next photo blog...

Good Morning Granny:  The need for flexibility to me means 3 computers at my disposal and a new lap top (Thanks Santa wifey) I just do not like not having options, and the need for me to be organized has me with multiple pairs of glasses, and if I were to need false teeth, I would probably have a back up set, (Not made of wood) Good luck with the lemonade. Does that mean you will set up a stand to multi-task?

Ed, my desktop is down. Hubby is like a computer nemesis, every one he uses ends up crashing and burning, LOL. If I am lucky all will be resolved today. If only you could see how I am using the old laptop, it is pretty funny!
