Happy Memorial Day from New Milford CT
We went to the parade this morning in New Milford, CT. Despite the rather warm temperatures, everything was perfect. A rousing rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, the veterans walked proudly down Main Street, the bands played perfectly, it was a wonderful day!
Memorial Day always makes me a little misty eyed. We gather in the best way I know to honor those who gave their lives for us, from the Civil War to our latest casualty's in the Middle East. How do you really say thank you? Well, I think this is certainly the best way we know how, a celebration to remember the lives that were cut too short.
To all the families and friends of ones who died in service to our country, I hope you know how much we all appreciate the ultimate sacrifice that was made for us. My thoughts and prayers are with you today, and always.
HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE MEMORIAL DAY!

Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest. - Mark Twain

I remember watching and being in those unique small town Connecticut parades. I was just thinking about how I managed to march in front of the Plainville High School band with my other team majorettes and throw and catch a baton! Gosh, it's been awhile, but what memories. Thanks for sharing what's going on your streets today.
Hi Andrea. There are truly no words to adequately express our thanks and appreciation to those who made the "ultimate sacrifice." I'm a little misty eyed myself today.
WoW, Andrea, what a nice parade to honor the fallen military officers! It is very nice indeed, thank you for sharing with us.
Emily, you were one of those girls, how wonderful! From Plainville are you? Long way from home now. You are very welcome, thank you for stopping by!
Patsy, there really isn't a way, is there. This is the best we can do for today. I missed the wreath laying ceremony, the grandson was overheated as was I. But I felt good.
Rita, it was nice, thank you for stopping by!
Andrea, great photos! I love parades!
Hi Andrea, Thank you for sharing your wonderful parade. Parades bring people together on a true community spirit. Well done!
Small town parades are the foundatin of our country. I loved experiencing this one with you - makes me miss my small town.
Andrea - I salute all who through parades like yours that was held in New Milford celebrate and honor the memories of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country. It is made much sadder for Connecticut with the recent death of a Connecticut National Guardsman this week. My thoughts and prayers are with his family today and always.
Andrea - Great photos of a wonderfully planned event! How a community comes together and presents things is such a reflection on the quality of lives lived there.
Andrea, a lot of young men and women have given their lives selflessly. They deserve to be honored and remembered, and a whole lot more.

Andrea- Those are wonderful photos and show the "flavor" of the parade. Memorial Day holds a special place in my heart to honor those who served and gave their lives so we can be free today.
I am sure you made some great memories today with your grandson!
Great pictorial of the Memorial Day parade in your home town Andrea. This was the next best thing to being there!
Hi Andrea, I always get misty-eyed too. We are reminded of the sacrifices that were made on our behalf.
