Make your mark on the earth!

Make your mark on the earth! Google Earth that is.

EarthOne thing online always leads to another for me. Usually I learn something, I almost always have fun doing it. But this evening was really special. I found out how to add my photos to Google Earth! Now just how cool is that? I figure that most of us have some pretty great shots of our local areas, and Google Earth is looking to us to fill in the blanks for down to earth shots of local areas. Talk about going global!

Check it out. Panoramio, very very cool. You can upload your photos and geotag them. After they are reviewed to make sure you are following the rules your photo will show up on Google Earth! And Google Maps too. You can be famous! It's quick, easy and painless, and best of all, its FREE!

I am just starting the project. I am going through my web albums I have stored on Picasa and sending them over to Panoramio, geotagging them and soon I will be all over the map in more ways than one. So take those photos you shot for your hyper local posts and really put them on the map, the big Google Earth Map. Make your mark on the EARTH!

OOOHHHH, so very cool.  Hope I am first in the neighborhood to do this.  Thanks for letting us in on this cool tool.  I want to go take some more shots tomorrow.  Is there ever enough time in the day?

Suzanne, there is not enough time in the day for all that we do, LOL. Now go out and click... Google Earth is calling you.

OK, that's just way too cool! I'm doing the same thing you are right now.....going through all my photos and loading them up!

Thanks Andrea!

VB. are you adding your collection of photos to Google Earth? Get started...

Barbara, I hope you have fun with it.

George, yes indeed, we should all contribute!

Craig, isn't it just the coolest thing? I plan on doing a few a day, or more, LOL. Depends on just how strung out I get.

Hi Andrea!
Now THAT was fun!  I had about 5 easy photos to add...it was easy and very cool! Thanks for the sharing!

Thanks for the tip. I once was trying to look at the town on the Black Sea where I spent many summers while growing up, and I noticed those photos, but I did not have a clue how to do it.

Thank you

Andrea, when I get time, I will check it out!  Thanks for the information.

Posted by Tony & Darcy Cannon, The C Team (Aubrey and Associates Realty) about 8 years ago

Paula, wasn't that great? I plan to put up a whole bunch more, I have quite a few local photos after all.

Jon, the reason you found them is exactly the reason why this is way to cool. We can see places we used to live, or we want to visit, or where friends live. Google needs us to drill it down to the local level!

Tony, have fun with it, I am sure you will enjoy it.

Andrea, what a great idea! Thank you! Just a few weeks ago, when we were planning a small trip, I was checking google maps, and saw a few pics someone geotagged They did help us to finalize the plans. I remember thinking "how cool" and "how can *I* do that", but never followed up - now you explained it all.

Joyce, I hope you enjoy it as much as I am!

Claudette, really, I was so excited when I found it. What a great way to showcase our areas.

Stan, I thought so! I hope that all the 'rainers will add a ton of photos to Google Earth this way!

Bill, I have so many, both for work and personal use, why not shout out how beautiful I think this area is, as is yours.

Bryant, I love Google too, and I thought this was just too cool. May not do much for business, but now my name will be out there on Google Earth as well as my work.

Fernando, I think they do already!

Richard, but the cool thing is that it belongs to all of us. And Google is free for us to use. That is just so cool to ask everyone to collaborate and show off all the wonderful places on the earth. So very... Star Trek Federation style thinking, LOL.

C, why thank you!

Missy, go forth and geotag then, LOL.

Barb, it was new to me too, and I couldn't keep it to myself.

Aaron, isn't it great?!

Michael, thank you! I really hope you enjoy it.

Dan, isn't that the truth? I get stressed sometimes, LOL. Not enough time and way to much stuff to do.

Tammie, I hope you find it as interesting as I did.

Pat, isn't it a great idea? It's like participating in a world wide project. Oh wait, that's exactly what it is!

Jenna, I am right there with ya!

Terri, this really is not about real estate as much as it just was too cool.

Jean, thank you! It was my pleasure.

Dee, LOL, sorry, NOT! Why should I be the only one who lost sleep? I had to show houses today, or I would have been doing the same thing.

Anna, isn't that amazing? And now you know!

Joan, I will send an email to Google and ask if they can extend the hours in a day to 27... they can do just about anything, right?

Deborah, thank you. Enjoy!

Joyce, this might be a long, slow gain. But it sure is fun to be a part of Google Earth!

Margaret, I don't know, honestly. Maybe as I said to Joyce it will be a long term gain. But wasn't it great? You are now a part of something very very cool!

John, LOL, uh.... I'm not going there.....

Margaret, and fun, don't forget fun, and cool.... cool is good!

Coleen, glad you enjoyed it! Now go and geotag to your hearts delight, will ya?

Deb, I am having so much fun with this, really. And I was on the lookout today for more great shots of the land. I am excited.

Bill, you are very welcome. I am hoping for a large surge in the amount of geotagged photos on Google Earth, LOL.

Andrea. How long does it take for the photos to show up? I uploaded 5 yesterday and can't find them. Thanks,

Barb

Barb, I think they have to look at them first, so maybe 5 days.

Like anything else...Too much traffic on Google Earth...

Do people look for houses on Google Earth?

Posted by Joshua Zargari, MJ Decorators Workshop (MJ Decorators Workshop LI staging and home decorating) about 8 years ago

Thanks for your post, Andrea. I recently bought a Sony DHC HX200V Camera. This camera has a GPS system built in. It also has a level and a compass. This camera stores EVERYTHING in the EXIF Data included within each picture.

I am learning to use Google Earth. I am finding the learning curve to be quite steep.

I have THOUSANDS of photos but only those that I have taken with the new camera have the coordinates in the EXIF Data.
