Field of Honor comes to New Milford CT

Field of Honor New Milford CT

What better way to honor those who served our country in the military than a visual display? This morning, November 3rd, the Field of Honor comes to New Milford, and will remain on display until December 8th, on the lawn of the New Milford Historical Society facing the north end of the village green. It is quite a site to see.

In the midst of the Field of Honor sits our statue of Abraham Lincoln. There is a plaque in front of Mr. Lincoln that speaks volumes even today. The Field of Honor may be for more recent veterans, however it should also serve as a reminder of how division can topple a country and for those who fought during the early years of our nation. It just struck me as being very appropriate.

Take a moment and walk through the Field of Honor in New Milford, CT. A fitting tribute just in time for Veterans Day!

Thank you to the Kiwanis Club of Greater Danbury, to Big Y, to the Roger Sherman Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, to the New Milford Historical Society, to all those who purchased flags to honor a veteran and to Linda Thomas for her vision and dedication to this very worthwhile project!

Good evening, Andrea. Division in the country is the reason that the Vietnam War was lost. Even though we militarily defeated the enemy, the division with our country gave the North Vietnam Generals hope that they could win. So you are right when you say that division can topple a country...

Andrea, you are right, that is a great "way to honor those who served our country in the military".

Hope you and everyone up in your corner of Connecticut get to enjoy it while it is there.

Richard, they planned this one well! It is something to see.

Michael B. it really is. I was thrilled to see it.

Michael T., Lincoln said it, my guess is he was way smarter than me, LOL. I stood there and read the plaque and struck at how meaningful the words are today. We are so divided, we cannot go on like this.

George, there were people stopping to see, to take pictures, it was great!

Andrea, we had it in Prospect last year, and it was inspiring to see all the flags waving as the wind blew and the cars did slow down a bit as well.

America just didn't happen...Many people who I could never know all had a hand in creating and sustaining this great country. Next time you go anywhere, pause and look around and ponder that the freedom and liberty working right there and then was hard fought and WON.....Yes to this post and thank you
