The Power of Thank You!

Thank you? Gratitude? Such an easy thing to do and it will come back to you how much?

Alan has provided us with a fantastic incentive to reach out and spread our gratitude. Not only will it make you feel better, it will make the person you thank feel better, and boy will you be surprised at the results. I am amazed at the results of a study done at Harvard, actually my jaw dropped when I heard how a simple thank you can mean to your business. And to others as well.

I really want to thank Alan Gross for this. He read a simple comment I made on Pat Kennedy's post about a meetup. She spoke about his gratitude marketing, I said it sounded interesting and BINGO. In my inbox was an email from Alan offering more information to me about it, along with a link to this fantastic post.

Watch, enjoy and learn. And don't forget to stop by Alan's original post and say thank you. After all, it might come back to you in more ways than one!

The Power of Thank You!

In her book "Sidetracked: Why Our Decisions Get Derailed, and How We Can Stick To The Plan," Francesca Gino, an associate professor at the Harvard Business School, explores many ideas including the fact that "People might just not realize how powerful expressions of gratitude are.”

“Receiving expressions of gratitude makes us feel a heightened sense of self-worth, and that in turn triggers other helpful behaviors toward both the person we are helping and other people, too,” Gino said. She described the scope of the “gratitude effect” as “the most surprising part” of her research.

The work behind her book, she said, “really makes me think more carefully every time I am the one expressing gratitude to others. I don’t want to miss opportunities. … I learned from my own research and now try to say ‘thank you’ much more often.”

I found a video by Derek Halpern titled "The Power of Thank You." I know you will enjoy it and learn from it.

I have a presentation called Appreciation Marketing that talks about the importance of saying "Thank You" and shows various ways to express gratitude.

One of the ways I say "Thank You" is to send cards through old fashioned snail mail. I use a system that is easy, simple and inexpensive.

If you like to learn about the system you can go to

The worlds a better place when we shiow and express gratitude so say "Thank You" to someone today.

Lenn, I don't remember running into him before this, but I sure am happy I did! And that would be thanks to Pat Kennedy and her last meetup, which he attended. He sent me such a nice email for posting something on her post, it was amazing! I happened to mention him in my comment to Pat. Talk about someone that takes gratitude all the way!
